Senior Professor Shirantha Heenkenda, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, has been awarded an honorary professorship by the Ural State University of Economics (USUE), Yekaterinburg, Russian Federation.
This prestigious recognition was conferred during the XVI Eurasia Economics Youth Forum, held on 22 April 2026, in the presence of representatives from leading Russian and international universities.
The award reflects the strong and growing academic collaboration between the two institutions since 2023. Under Professor Heenkenda’s leadership, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences has made significant strides in international engagement, including the introduction of a Professional Diploma in Russian Language, the establishment of joint research initiatives, and the organization of academic essay competitions.
Building on this foundation, both universities have expressed their commitment to further strengthening and expanding their academic and research partnerships in the years ahead.
