The Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice (DCCJ) of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura welcomed a delegation of professors from the Law School of Yunnan University, China, on 14 October 2026 to explore opportunities for international academic collaboration.
The delegation included Prof. Tong Zhou and Prof. Long Cheng, along with other academic representatives from Yunnan University. Discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in criminology, criminal justice, legal education, and research.
Both institutions presented their academic programmes, expertise, and future development priorities. A key outcome of the meeting was the mutual agreement to work towards establishing a formal academic partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
Proposed areas of collaboration include student exchange programmes, joint postgraduate programme development, academic staff exchanges, and collaborative research initiatives. The visit provided a valuable platform for sharing knowledge and identifying opportunities for long-term institutional cooperation.
