The University of Sri Jayewardenepura (USJ) welcomed Mr. Ali Kebriaei Zadeh, Cultural Counsellor of the Iran Cultural Centre, on 16 September 2026 to explore opportunities for strengthening academic and cultural cooperation between USJ and Iranian institutions.
During the visit, Mr. Kebriaei Zadeh met with Senior Professor Upul Subasinghe, Vice-Chancellor of USJ, and Professor Sandamali Galdolage, Director of the Centre for International Affairs. The meeting provided a platform to discuss potential areas of collaboration in higher education, research, and cultural exchange.
Both parties expressed interest in developing mutually beneficial initiatives to strengthen institutional ties and promote academic engagement between Sri Lanka and Iran. The proposed areas of cooperation are expected to be further explored and formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
The visit reflects USJ’s continued commitment to expanding its international partnerships and fostering global academic connections through collaborative research, knowledge exchange, and cultural engagement.
