Strengthening Global Academic Ties:  Five Delegates from Zhejiang Shuren University Visit USJ to Strengthen Academic Collaboration

The University of Sri Jayewardenepura (USJ) had the pleasure of hosting a distinguished delegation of five academics from Zhejiang Shuren University, China, from 2nd to 5th February 2026, under the Memorandum of Understanding established between the two institutions. The visit marked a significant step in strengthening international academic collaboration and fostering cross-cultural exchange.

Prof. Wu Ronglan, Director of the Office of International Affairs, engaged in productive discussions with the Faculty of Urban Aquatic and Bio Resources and the Faculty of Allied Sciences to explore future collaborative opportunities. She also delivered a series of lectures to students of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (FHSS) on Chinese Culture and Civilization.

The delegation contributed extensively to academic enrichment across faculties.

  • Dr. Zhang Yanhong conducted lectures on Cross-Cultural Tourism, Digital Communication, and Creative Short Video Design for students of the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce.
  • Dr. Wang Bei delivered sessions on Appreciation of Chinese Cinema, History of Chinese Language and Characters, and Introduction to Chinese Language and Culture.
  • Dr. Hu Heng presented lectures on China’s Economy and Foreign Trade, as well as Oral and Written Communication and Chinese Language and Culture for FHSS students.
  • Dr. Jing Qian conducted sessions on Overview of China’s Digital Economy and Digital Economy and Inclusive Developments in Asia.

As part of the cultural exchange experience, the delegation was hosted on a hospitality tour to Pinnawala and Kandy, providing them with an opportunity to experience Sri Lanka’s heritage and natural beauty.

This successful visit reflects USJ’s continued commitment to global partnerships, academic exchange, and fostering international understanding through collaborative education initiatives.
