Fostering Collaboration between International Business University, Toronto and the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka

The delegate, Mr. Jason Gangaram, the Director of Recruitment, Admissions and Partnerships in the International Business University (IBU), Toronto visited the University of Sri Jayewardenepura (USJ) on 23rd August 2023. Dr. Dushan Chaminda, the Dean of the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, USJ, Dr. Ruwini Dharmawardene, Director of the International Affairs Division, and Dr. Sandamali Galdolage, scholar and the Coordinator of the International Affairs in the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce graciously welcomed him.

IBU is a private, non-profit, student-focused university in Toronto, Canada that offers a growing set of undergraduate and graduate academic and professional degree programs. It combines academic excellence with curricula geared to the needs of the students in the 21st Century in the sphere of World Business Education.

The key objective of this visit was to explore the potential higher education opportunities for collaborative educational partnerships between the University of Sri Jayewardenepura and International Business University. The intention was to discuss the comprehensive business disciplines that IBU offers, designed to support a vast array of industries so as to foster collaborations between the two universities. Understanding collaboration opportunities in the realm of business education, discussing potential partnerships in research, curriculum development, and faculty exchanges, exploring avenues for student exchange and internship programs, and establishing a roadmap for future engagement and cooperation were among the foremost emphasis of discussions.

Academic representative from USJ, Dr. Sandamali Galdolage provided a comprehensive overview of the degree programs available in the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce of the USJ and the potential for collaborations between the two universities. Mr. Jason Gangaram from IBU expressed a keen interest in the elective programs and was impressed by the current degree programs offered by USJ.

The visit served as an important platform for knowledge exchange and establishing a strong ground for future partnerships between the two universities. The fruitful discussions further reinforced the mutual commitment to academic excellence and international cooperation.
