A planning meeting was conducted via Google Meet on 20th August 2025 to discuss the upcoming academic study tour to the University of Sri Jayewardenepura by undergraduate students from Nihon University, Japan. The meeting was attended by Professor Toru Kobayakawa from Nihon University, Professor Sandamali Galdolage, Coordinator of International Affairs, Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, and Professor Aruna Gamage from the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, University of Sri Jayewardenepura. The visit is scheduled for either March or August 2026. The main aim of the study tour is for the students, who are studying global issues such as international development, environmental sustainability, and regional cooperation, to learn directly from their peers in Sri Lanka.
The key objectives of the visit include,
- A student discussion session or informal seminar on topics such as international development, environmental sustainability, and regional cooperation.
- Cultural and academic exchange activities to enhance mutual understanding between Nihon University students and Sri Jayewardenepura students.
- A University tour and an introduction to the University of Sri Jayewardenepura’s programs and facilities.
The meeting highlighted the students’ enthusiasm to engage directly with their peers in Sri Lanka, while the University of Sri Jayewardenepura expressed its willingness to support a meaningful exchange program. Both parties agreed to coordinate further regarding the detailed program schedule and departmental involvement to ensure a successful and productive visit.
