On the 8 th of August, the University of Sri Jayewardenepura had the privilege of hosting the ASEZ Group of student volunteers from Korea. The visit was centered around an engaging seminar and discussion on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), environmental issues, combating desertification, and various projects aimed at environmental protection. This event took place at the Centre for Sustainability (CFS) at the Department of Forestry and Environmental Science, Faculty of Applied Sciences. During the seminar, both the visiting students and our undergraduates had the opportunity to exchange ideas and discuss innovative approaches to pressing global environmental challenges. The visit also laid the groundwork for future collaborations, including the implementation of joint activities, student exchange programs, and collaborative efforts in environmental restoration. This visit marks the beginning of what we hope will be a fruitful and ongoing partnership between our institutions. Dr. Thilak Chandrathilake, the Director of the Centre for Sustainability provided all the necessary facilities for the meeting. As attendees for the meeting, third-year undergraduates joined the event along with Mr. Kosala Gunawardene, the Curator of the Department of Forestry and Environmental Science. This event was organized by the International Affairs Division of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura.
