USJ–ECU Partnership: Expanding Academic and Student Exchange Opportunities

The Department of Sports Science, Faculty of Applied Sciences, University of Sri
Jayewardenepura (USJ), has maintained a strong academic partnership with Edith Cowan
University (ECU), Australia, since 2017, implementing various initiatives under the existing
MoU. On 19th August 2025, USJ warmly welcomed a delegation from ECU to further
strengthen this collaboration.

The event was graced by Senior Professor Pathmalal M. Manage, Vice Chancellor of USJ,
Professor Upul Subasinghe, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences, Dr. H.P.N. Perera, Head of
the Department of Sports Science, Senior Lecturer Kevin Roshintha Fernando, International
Affairs Coordinator of the Faculty. From the delegation side, Associate Professor Annette
Koenders, Associate Dean (Medical & Exercise Sciences) at the School of Medical & Health
Sciences, ECU, joined the event.

During the discussions, ECU expressed its satisfaction with the ongoing partnership and
highlighted future opportunities for collaboration, including student exchange programs, to
further strengthen ties between the two universities.
