Course Description: The MPhil in Business Economics program is research-oriented and focuses on the development of high-level independent research outcomes. The program aims to enhance graduates’ theoretical knowledge and analytical skills in Business Economics through courses, seminars, and the oral defense of a dissertation.
Duration: Two years
Entry Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Economics/Economics/Business Administration/Commerce/Human Resource Management/Marketing/Accounting/Financial Management/Entrepreneurship/Estate Management and Valuation/Operations and Technology Management/Public Administration/Business Information Systems/Statistics/Science/Mathematics with a first or second-class standing from a recognized university.
- Master’s degree in Business Economics/Economics/Business Administration/Commerce/Human Resource Management/Marketing/Accounting/Professional Accounting/Financial Management/Applied Finance/Entrepreneurship/Entrepreneurial Business Management/Real Estate Management and Valuation/Operations and Technology Management/Public Administration/Business Information Systems/Statistics/Science/Mathematics from a recognized university.
Other qualifications equivalent to the above-mentioned qualifications may be considered subject to the approval of the Senate.

MPhil in Business
Course Description: The MPhil in Business program aims to facilitate students in acquiring the necessary knowledge and skills required to be independent researchers in the field of Business. The program focuses on developing self-discipline and confidence in students. Graduates of this program are expected to provide new insights into socio-organizational phenomena and emerging issues in business organizations through conducting rigorous research.
Duration: Two years
Entry Requirements:
a) Applicants with a First-Class or Second-Class (Upper Division) Special/Honours Degree in Business Administration/Management or any other field in the broad area of Management Studies (equivalent to level 6 of SLQF) with a substantial research component.
b) Applicants with a First-Class or Second-Class (Upper Division) Special/Honours Degree in Sociology, Psychology, Anthropology, or a similar discipline with a minimum of 30 credits in the broad area of Management Studies (equivalent to level 6 of SLQF) and with a substantial research component.
c) Applicants with M.Sc. (Management), MBA, or any other Master’s degree in the broad area of Management Studies with a substantial research component (equivalent to level 10 of SLQF).
d) Applicants with M.A. in Sociology, Psychology, Anthropology, or any other Master’s degree in a similar discipline with a substantial research component related to the broad area of Management Studies (equivalent to level 10 of SLQF).
e) Applicants with a First-Class or Second-Class (Upper Division) Special Degree in Business Administration/Management or any other field in the broad area of Management Studies with at least three years of experience as a researcher or academic and/or with a proven track record of publications in the broad area of Management Studies.
f) Applicants with M.Sc. (Management), MBA, or any other Master’s degree in the broad area of Management Studies (equivalent to level 9 or above of SLQF) with at least one year of experience as a researcher or academic and/or with a proven track record of publications in the broad area of Management Studies.
g) Applicants with M.A. in Sociology, Psychology, Anthropology, or any other Master’s degree in a similar discipline (equivalent to level 9 or above of SLQF) with at least one year of experience as a researcher or academic and/or with a proven track record of publications in the broad area of Management Studies.
h) Applicants with Postgraduate Diploma in Management or in a similar discipline (equivalent to level 8 of SLQF) with at least two years of experience as a researcher or academic and/or with a proven track record of publications in the broad area of Management Studies.
i) Any other qualifications that can be accepted by the Senate of the University according to the minimum admission requirements of SLQF.

MPhil/PhD in Management
Course Description: The MPhil/PhD in Management aims to produce experts whose research is of higher international quality and standards. The program offers structured research training delivered by staff who are experts in their fields. The areas of study include Accounting, Business Economics, Finance, Human Resources, International Business, Management & Organization Studies, Marketing, or Interdisciplinary Studies.
Duration:
- MPhil: Two years
- PhD: Three years
Entry Requirements (MPhil):
- A Bachelor’s Honors Degree of Level 6 with a minimum of 30 credits in the relevant field.
- A Bachelor’s Honors Degree of Level 6 with a minimum of 30 credits in a related field and successful completion of a qualifying examination.
- A Bachelor’s Degree of level 5 with a minimum GPA of 3 and successful completion of a qualifying examination, which will be conducted after the completion of 30 credits equivalent to SLQF 6 in the same or related field.
- A qualification of SLQF levels 7 or above in the relevant field.
- Completion of NVQ Level 7 with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and successful completion of a qualifying examination, which will be conducted after the completion of 30 credits equivalent to SLQF level 6 or 7 as determined by the University.
Entry Requirements (PhD):
- A Master’s of Philosophy Degree.
- A Master’s Degree.
- A Bachelor’s Degree of Level 6 with a minimum GPA of 3 with or without a qualifying examination as determined by the University.
- A holder of Bachelor’s Degree Honors of Level 6 who has registered to follow an MPhil Degree may be upgraded to PhD level after a minimum period of one year, provided his/her research competencies are of exceptional merit.
- A Bachelor’s Degree of level 5 with a minimum GPA of 3 and successful completion of a qualifying examination, which will be conducted after the completion of 30 credits equivalent to SLQF level 6 in the same or related field and register to follow an MPhil Degree may be upgraded to PhD level after a minimum period of one year, provided his/her research competencies are of exceptional merit.
