The University of Sri Jayewardenepura hosted a delegation from RUDN University on 12th December 2025. The meeting was held at the Old Board Room of the University.
The University of Sri Jayewardenepura was represented by Senior Professor Pathmalal M. Manage, Vice Chancellor; Senior Professor Shirantha Heenkenda, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences; Professor Gamini Weerasinghe, Head of the Department of Economics; Dr. Ajantha Kalyanarathne, Senior Lecturer, Department of Economics; and Mr. Rasika Jayasinghe, Lecturer, Department of Pali and Buddhist Studies.
The delegation from RUDN University included Prof. Andronova Inna Vitalievna, Dean of the Faculty of Economics; Dr. Tatyana Borisovna Yukhnova, Deputy Dean of Economics; and Dr. Sokolan Daria Sergeevna, Deputy Dean for International Affairs. The meeting was also attended by Elina Babaeva and Buthmi Perera from the Russian Centre.
Senior Professor Shirantha Heenkenda warmly welcomed the visiting delegation and provided an overview of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, highlighting its academic strengths and opportunities for collaboration.
During the discussion, both parties explored several areas of potential cooperation, including summer schools, master’s programmes, joint research collaborations, online short courses, and student and staff exchange programmes. It was proposed that the collaboration could initially commence through joint research conferences. Both parties also agreed to prepare detailed proposals for the proposed collaborative activities to further strengthen and formalize the partnership, marking a positive step toward long-term academic cooperation between the two institutions.
